Callots have aesthetic as well as practical uses. They give your jewellery a high-quality finished look without the chance of thread ends poking out between beads as well as being useful when making multi strand necklaces and bracelets. Like most findings, callots come in a range of metal colours, shapes and sizes. A range of different callot styles are shown in the pictures.

How to use callots

Step 1:
Thread a crimp onto the thread of choice and crimp 1-2mm from the end of the thread.

Step 2:
Thread on the open callot from the end that has not been crimped, so that the opening of the callot is facing the crimped end.

Step 3:
Thread the callot over the crimp and close (use pliers if needed). Thread on the beads.

Step 4:
When you are ready to finish the piece of jewellery, thread on the callot first, with the opening facing the end of the thread, followed by the crimp. Crimp the crimp bead as close to the callot as possible and trim off the excess thread (make sure that the crimp is secure before cutting off the excess thread). Add the clasp and jump ring on each end of the necklace/bracelet.
